Aliyah Grace Burton

hey! I’m aliyah.

I live in Mansfield, Ohio and spend most of my time doing high school and dual-credit college classes as I finish out my senior year! Life is crazy with school, sports (I run cross-country and track), and photography, but I am taking it one day at a time and learning how to balance what life throws at me. Some of my favorite things include cherry Coke, dark chocolate, go-karting, Chick-Fil-A, running with my teammates, mountains, and snuggling babies.

I started taking pictures when I was ten years old, on our little point-and-shoot Kodak. One day, my dad brought me to the store after I’d saved all my money (a whole $87!) and I bought a hot pink camera that I shot the life out of for the next two years. I tinkered around on our dinosaur computer and learned how to do cheesy edits, which ultimately taught me a lot of valuable skills for my future photo shoots. Now, nearly eight years later, I am a wedding & portrait photographer serving central Ohio. Wow, I would never have believed I’d end up in this place, but I’m here and I’m thankful.

Over the years I’ve been doing photography, I’ve learned that it’s so much more than just snapping a picture. Photography is the art that allows us to freeze a moment in time. It might sound cliche, but I am realizing more and more that a picture really is worth a thousand words. As I watch my family grow and change, and as I have family members lose memory as they get older, pulling out a photo album and sharing sweet memories with the ones I love means more than ever. I never want to forget my little sister’s baby toes, my brother’s toothless grin, the way my mom and dad laugh at silly things, how my grandma gives everyone in my family big smooches on the cheeks, or sweet summer nights eating watermelon and looking at the stars. One of my favorite songs puts it like this:

“And all that remains
Are these small hours
These little wonders
These twists and turns of fate
Our lives are made of
These small hours
These little wonders
Still remain.”

“These Little Wonders” by Rob Thomas

All that to say, photography is more than a session or a pose to me. It’s about memories, authentic feelings, and intentional beauty.

That’s what I do my best to represent in every picture I take. And my promise to you is that if you choose me to be your photographer, I will not take your sweet moments for granted. They matter so so much, and I will turn moments into art, one photo at a time. My goal is to always be your friend before I am your photographer.
